I'm from Country Harbour. I used to use the ferry twice a day, when I worked as a milkman. I remember when it used to cost 50 cents to cross. I proposed to my wife at the Bickerton Lighthouse. Used to tie up at Liscomb Lodge dock, before heading out to do some sailing with friends. NS is on my list of places to visit. I have a harder time with km-mi conversion, since I like my distance -- particularly if I'm walking -- to be accurate, and multiplying by .6 is a pain to my brain. why I can't just go with "about half a mile" I don't know. However, I have no trouble saying a liter is about a quart, so multiply Canadian gas prices by 4 (and round down for the exchange rate) to get the US gallon price estimate. last time I looked, it was about twice as much as in the US.
