An Analysis of My Blog

Jennifer over at Life As I Know It pointed to some fun blog analysis tools today. Just for giggles, I tried them out too.

Typeanalyzer pegs my blog as being written by someone who is an Myers-Briggs ESTP. In fact, it calls my blog “A Doer.” Given that a lot of what I blog about is hockey (and the rest is about my dogs) I can’t say I’m surprised by this. On the other hand, I have consistently scored as ENFP on the MBTI. So apparently what I write about and how I really exist in the world are different. Shocking, I know!

ESTP – The Doers
The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

Genderanalyzer thinks my blog is written by a man (with a “score” of 77% – whatever that means.) Given that their polling results suggest that Genderanalyzer only guesses right 54% of the time, and given that I write about (wait for it…) hockey a lot, I’m going to peg their mistake on my having “non-girly” interests.

The Blog Readability Test pegs my blog’s reading level as elementary school. Yup, that’s about right. I’m not writing a lot of complex stuff here, I don’t go into too many “big questions”, and as you can tell from my first result, I’m much more of a doer than a writer.

The (stupid!) How Much Is Your Blog Worth test gives me a big old goose-egg. Hater test. Just because I don’t do all those blog-for-$$ things out there doesn’t mean my blog’s worth nothing. But then, I suppose it’s hard to quantify and test for personal satifaction of the blog author in a test like that…

You’re in good company. Guess who else racked up almost identical scores with you? No less than George Orwell.
