about me

Self-portrait

Librarian, yes.
Dog-owner, definitely.
Knitter, advanced novice.
Hockey player, beyond a doubt.

And beyond that, I’m a friend, sister, daughter, wife, and all-around generally happy person who enjoys most of what life throws at me.

I was born at the University of Minnesota Hospitals on May 10. I lived in Minneapolis until age 4, when my family moved to Aitkin, Minnesota. We lived there for 11 years in a geodesic dome. I attended schools in Aitkin until the end of 9th grade. When my family moved back to the Twin Cities, I went to Totino-Grace High School. I went to the College of St. Benedict, and got my graduate degree at Syracuse University.

After having such illustrious jobs as cashier at a liquor store and summer camp counselor at St. John’s Leadership Camps, I found my passion in books, words, and information. I worked at Borders Book Shop and Micawber’s Bookstore before going to get a Master of Library Science degree. Since getting my degree, I’ve worked in south Louisiana, central Iowa, suburban Philadelphia, and suburban Boston.

I used to own a house in Philadelphia, and now own one outside of Boston with my wife Amy. We have two dogs, Maggie and Otter. Life is pretty good.
