Highly recommended!

And so I ran home, checked Katrina’s schedule, and got myself on her calendar ASAP. The massage was wonderful – she focused on my legs per my request – and I felt like I was walking on jelly for about 2 days. I’d highly recommend Katrina! And I’d highly recommend being friends with Shelly too. They are both simply wonderful!

It was free baseball cap day, so we made sure to get there early so we could get free caps – thanks Rhode Island Lottery and WEEI! While the Paw Sox didn’t win (hardly – they lost 9 or 10 to 1), the game itself was a blast! Some photos:

Amy and I had such a great time at the game that we decided to base our summer vacation partly on seeing minor league baseball games. The other part? Based on my 40 in 40 list… but you’ll have to wait until the vacation is done for me to tell you what fun things we’re planning on doing!

As a twist, we decided to bowl in skirts. Which meant we needed to buy skirts. Which meant a trip to Goodwill after lunch and before the graveyard adventure. Behold the shopping. (Amy does not like wearing skirts.)

And behold all of us in skirts (looking reasonably happy, even though none of us are really skirt-wearers.) (Aside: Amy coaches outside. Can you tell? The rest of us are pretty pasty white, but she’s looking all tanned.)

I LOVE candlepin bowling – it’s significantly more fun to me than ten-pin bowling, and not just because you get three shots on each frame. There’s something about the small ball, the shape of the pins, and the fact that between shots the deadwood isn’t swept away. That can really help, but it can also hurt. So hooray for candlepin bowling! I suspect I’ll go more than once this year…

At first I was unsuccessful with the rainbow-colored stunt kite. Perhaps we were making things too hard with that one. Amy and Jen didn’t have any success with it either, although I’m attributing that about 99% to user error…

But then I had success with Spiderman! Spidey always saves the day! And really, there is nothing like flying a $5 kite on a beautiful summer day.

Other things we did that day include hopscotch and jump rope, eating food we’d never tried before (in this case, pork bellies and grilled pineapple, both of which are totally on my “eat again” list), doing some exploring in a graveyard and finding good epitaphs, and something I’ll blog about later, because it is also on my list of 40 things to do in my 40th year!

Maggie and Otter have had the best weekend with Jen being here.

That blissful, expectant look on his face? Happens every time she walks into our house. (Which she slipped and called “home” the other day….. as in, HER home. I’m just saying.)

There are a lot of us – human and canine alike – who would be thrilled if she were to make Boston her home.

When Jen walked in, Maggie gave the wiggly squeal, and Otter just went nuts. Have I mentioned how much these dogs love Jen? Did I mention that they’re in good company? (As in: Amy and I love her tons too!)

Much to be thankful for tonight.

Renee, Sejal, and Laura kidnapped Amy while I was napping and returned her to her pigtail-wearing days. In a bar. While drinking scotch. Yeah, I don’t get it either, but they had a blast.

This is the back of Amy’s very special CCMM t-shirt. Mine says “I’m gonna squish you like a BUG”. It’s a long story that started with the hysterical laughter of great teammates all the way back in September at the Darcy Tournament and culminated for at least the two of us at Nationals.

We’ve since played in the Champlain Shootout, where we took not one of the top spots in our division (photos of one of our games available online).  I’m going to miss playing with the team this summer but am looking forward to the three leagues we are playing in all summer long (Walpole, Concord, and Marlboro…!)
