5. Fly a kite

On Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, I had FIVE adventures with Libby, Jen, and Amy, which we dubbed the L-JAM Adventure Day. We voted on what we wanted to do after throwing about 20 ideas out there, and the top 5 won. On the list? Flying a kite in Boston Common!

Flying a Kite

At first I was unsuccessful with the rainbow-colored stunt kite. Perhaps we were making things too hard with that one. Amy and Jen didn’t have any success with it either, although I’m attributing that about 99% to user error…

But then I had success with Spiderman! Spidey always saves the day! And really, there is nothing like flying a $5 kite on a beautiful summer day.

Other things we did that day include hopscotch and jump rope, eating food we’d never tried before (in this case, pork bellies and grilled pineapple, both of which are totally on my “eat again” list), doing some exploring in a graveyard and finding good epitaphs, and something I’ll blog about later, because it is also on my list of 40 things to do in my 40th year!

Otter’s Love Affair

image

Maggie and Otter have had the best weekend with Jen being here.

That blissful, expectant look on his face? Happens every time she walks into our house. (Which she slipped and called “home” the other day….. as in, HER home. I’m just saying.)

There are a lot of us – human and canine alike – who would be thrilled if she were to make Boston her home. 🙂

Philly Family

Nearly complete but for KE…

Dogs on JenWhen Jen walked in, Maggie gave the wiggly squeal, and Otter just went nuts. Have I mentioned how much these dogs love Jen? Did I mention that they’re in good company? (As in: Amy and I love her tons too!)

Much to be thankful for tonight.

Nationals Redux

Storm LogoSo my last post regaled you all with the stats from Nationals (yay! I got points! even though we lost!)

This one is just a few photos of some fun moments after we were done with all our games. There are more over on my Flickr account, and if you’re friends with any of the team through Facebook, there are albums on Judy’s, Laura’s, and Janet’s profiles.

It’s a Megan sandwich! Laura and Renee are the bread, I’m the meaty middle.

Renee, Sejal, and Laura kidnapped Amy while I was napping and returned her to her pigtail-wearing days. In a bar. While drinking scotch. Yeah, I don’t get it either, but they had a blast.

This is the back of Amy’s very special CCMM t-shirt. Mine says “I’m gonna squish you like a BUG”. It’s a long story that started with the hysterical laughter of great teammates all the way back in September at the Darcy Tournament and culminated for at least the two of us at Nationals.

We’ve since played in the Champlain Shootout, where we took not one of the top spots in our division (photos of one of our games available online).  I’m going to miss playing with the team this summer but am looking forward to the three leagues we are playing in all summer long (Walpole, Concord, and Marlboro…!)
